Arrowston, Colonial Revival mansion in Piqua, United States
Arrowston is a Colonial Revival mansion in Piqua built from wood and set on a stone foundation. The main residence displays multiple dormers, ornate cornices, pilasters, and traditional double-hung windows, all topped with a tiled roof, while the property includes seven additional structures.
Built in 1887 for industrialist William K. Boal, the mansion was designed by architect A.M. Fry and constructed by builder R. Gilmore Hanford. It gained recognition on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
The estate reflects the tastes of wealthy American industrialists in the late 1800s. Such grand homes showed how successful business owners displayed their prosperity through elaborate architecture and generous living spaces.
The 8-acre property is located on Park Avenue and allows visitors to explore both the main house and the seven outbuildings spread across the grounds. Plan time to walk the grounds and view the various structures at a leisurely pace.
In 1929, the landscape was expanded with a lake and canal system that have remained unaltered ever since. These water features add another layer of design to the property beyond its architectural elements.
