Veterans Stadium, Multi-purpose sports stadium in New Britain, Connecticut, United States
Veterans Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in New Britain, Connecticut, built around a football field and an eight-lane running track. The seating consists of metal bleachers arranged in seven sections, each with 27 rows.
The stadium opened in 1982 as a memorial to soldiers from New Britain who died in military conflicts, including the Vietnam War. The name was chosen to keep their memory tied to the life of the city.
The bleachers are painted in maroon and gold, the colors of New Britain High School, which regularly uses the grounds for its home games. On game days, students, families, and club supporters share the same metal stands.
The stadium is the home ground of CT United FC in the American Soccer League and also hosts regular high school football games. It is worth checking the event schedule in advance, as access outside of game days may be limited.
The running track was formally dedicated to coach Irving S. Black in April 1992, in recognition of his long contribution to local athletics. A plaque marking this dedication can be found at the stadium for those who look closely.
