Herrington Lake

Herrington Lake is a reservoir surrounded by steep rock walls and featuring two islands within its waters. The basin stretches across three counties and creates a large body of water for recreation and power generation.

Kentucky Utilities completed Dix Dam in 1925 to generate hydroelectric power for the surrounding area. This construction transformed the valley and created the water body that exists today.

Fishing competitions and boating outings bring people together throughout the year, making this reservoir a social hub for outdoor enthusiasts in the region. The water-based activities here reflect how locals spend their leisure time and stay connected.
