House at 88 Prospect Street
House at 88 Prospect Street, Historic residence in Wakefield, United States.
The house at 88 Prospect Street is an English Cottage style building with stucco walls, red tile roofs, and irregularly spaced windows. The structure features deep porches supported by heavy columns that protect the entry areas.
The house was designed in 1913 by architect Harland O. Perkins for Elizabeth Boit, co-founder of a major knitting mill company. Its construction occurred during a period of significant economic growth in Wakefield.
The house was part of a family compound with multiple buildings and gardens on a hillside. It reflects the wealth and lifestyle of affluent industrial owners from the early 20th century.
The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and can be viewed from the outside. The best view is from the street, where the architectural details and proportions of the house are clearly visible.
It is one of the few remaining estates from the height of local industry in the early 20th century. The property still displays its original layout with multiple buildings and garden areas.
