The Palisades, Cliff in the US
The Palisades are a line of steep cliffs along the west side of the lower Hudson River in Northeastern New Jersey and Southern New York.
Formed 200 million years ago, The Palisades were designated a National Natural Landmark in 1983.
These cliffs have been considered a symbol of wilderness and inspired many artists and writers over centuries from George Inness to Frederick Edwin Church.
Popular for picnicking, boating, fishing, and hiking, the Palisades Interstate Park offers breathtaking views of the river and skyline.
Despite its close proximity to the largest city in the United States, the area has remained largely undisturbed.
