Swarovski Crystal Worlds, Art museum and exhibition space in Wattens, Austria.
Swarovski Crystal Worlds is a museum and exhibition space in Wattens, Austria, dedicated to crystal art. The complex consists of several exhibition chambers inside an artificial hill whose entrance is marked by a giant grass-covered head with a waterfall, surrounded by a landscaped garden containing additional sculptures and installations.
Austrian artist André Heller designed the museum in 1995 to mark the centenary of the Swarovski company. The Crystal Worlds have since been expanded several times to add new artist chambers and outdoor areas, while preserving the original vision of an underground experience space.
Each chamber displays how artists from different countries interpret crystal as a medium, turning raw material into sculptures, light installations, and interactive pieces. Visitors move through spaces where reflections, mirrors, and carefully placed lighting reveal how the crystals change appearance depending on angle and distance.
The museum opens daily at 8:30 and closes at 22:00 during summer months, and at 19:30 for the rest of the year. Buying tickets online allows direct entry without waiting in line, and a full visit through the chambers and garden typically takes two to three hours.
The entrance through the giant green head leads visitors into an underground network of chambers that feels like a labyrinth. Most guests do not notice that the rooms maintain different temperatures and lighting conditions, which enhance the effect of the crystal installations.
