Schloss Erla St. Pantaleon

Schloss Erla St. Pantaleon is an elongated two-story residential building with a gabled roof situated within a former monastery complex in Lower Austria. The site occupies a rural location near the Danube and preserves structural elements spanning several periods.

The castle originated as a Benedictine convent in the last third of the 15th century. Following the monastery's dissolution, the structure transitioned to residential use and served different purposes.

The parish church of Saints Peter and Paul stands beside the castle with late Gothic features and neogothic interior details. It reflects how religious and residential spaces developed together on this site.

The site is located near the village of Sankt Pantaleon in a rural setting with good accessibility via country roads. The best time to visit is during warmer months when the outdoor areas can be fully explored.

Remnants of a 14th century water castle lie beneath the current structure at this location. These earlier fortifications reveal that the site held military importance along the Danube frontier for centuries.
