Arena Vienna

Arena Vienna is a former slaughterhouse facility in Landstraße that now houses multiple performance venues and creative spaces. The brick buildings retain their industrial appearance while accommodating concert halls, smaller performance areas, and outdoor spaces.

The site began in 1976 when activists occupied the abandoned slaughterhouse and gradually developed it into a self-managed cultural space. This founding moment shaped its identity as a community-driven venue that continues to this day.

The venue represents the spirit of grassroots creativity that emerged from Vienna's alternative art movements. Today, visitors find this independent approach reflected in the diverse programming and welcoming environment.

The venue sits at Baumgasse 80 in Vienna's third district and offers events year-round in various spaces. Visitors should know that accessibility varies between different buildings and levels throughout the complex.

During summer, the courtyard transforms into an outdoor cinema and concert space where performances happen against the raw industrial backdrop. This seasonal program makes creative use of the location's original character.
