Church of the Holy Trinity, Salzburg, Baroque church in Salzburg, Austria.
The Church of the Holy Trinity is a Baroque structure with a high dome and two symmetrical bell towers, featuring a curved facade decorated with columns and sculptural elements. The interior contains a large fresco by Johann Michael Rottmayr above the altar area.
Construction took place between 1694 and 1702 as part of a seminary complex under Prince Archbishop Johann Ernst von Thun's rule. Architect Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach's design significantly shaped Salzburg's Baroque character.
The name refers to the Christian Trinity. Visitors notice the ornate interior with gilded details and the quiet mood during prayer.
The building sits close to Linzergasse and is easily reached on foot. The best time to visit is outside service hours when you can look around the interior calmly.
The interior preserves a characteristic Bohemian decoration style that stands out in Salzburg's Baroque church architecture. This unusual design choice made the building a teaching example in European architectural history.
