Villa Wartholz, Historical villa in Reichenau an der Rax, Austria

Villa Wartholz stands as a three-story structure with towers and a large front balcony, designed in the historicist architectural style of the 19th century.

The villa, constructed between 1870 and 1872 by architect Heinrich von Ferstel, served as a residence for Archduke Karl Ludwig, brother of Emperor Franz Joseph.

Since 2008, the villa has established itself as a center for literature through its annual writing competition, drawing participants from across the region.

The villa maintains regular opening hours for guided tours, with advance reservations required for special events and private functions throughout the year.

Emperor Charles I and Empress Zita resided in Villa Wartholz, where their son Otto von Habsburg was born in 1912 and received his first communion.
