Brauerei, Markt Piesting, Protected brewery building in Markt Piesting, Austria
The brewery at Gutensteiner Strasse is a complex of several industrial buildings erected between 1894 and 1904 with regional architectural features. The facility displays typical characteristics of Austrian brewery architecture from that period, featuring functional structures designed for beer production.
Johann Nepomuk Müller founded the brewery in 1824 and shaped its early years as a local enterprise. After 1841, the Lehn family took over the facility and drove significant expansion that transformed the operation.
The brewery served as a hub for sharing brewing knowledge and maintained strong ties to vocational training in the region. Visitors can still see the spaces where traditional brewing techniques were taught and passed on.
The operation opens its doors regularly for direct beer sales during special Hofverkauf events. These occasions and additional openings during larger events offer visitors the chance to discover the production on-site.
The facility earned multiple gold medals in international competitions between 2002 and 2005, demonstrating exceptional craft standards. Under the leadership of specialized diploma brewmasters, it built a reputation for quality that extended beyond regional boundaries.
