Palais Augarten

Palais Augarten is a baroque palace in Vienna's Leopoldstadt district featuring classical architectural details and formally laid out gardens designed in the French style. The building occupies a substantial grounds and demonstrates characteristic features of late 17th-century Austrian baroque design.

The palace was built in 1692 by the renowned architect Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach for businessman Zacharias Leeb. Construction replaced an earlier hunting lodge on the same site and it quickly became one of Vienna's important baroque estates.

The palace has served for generations as home to the Vienna Boys' Choir, who sing, rehearse, and study within its halls. This deep connection with the world-renowned ensemble shapes daily life at this location today.

The estate can be visited through guided tours that provide information about the building's architecture and history. Visitors should allow time to explore the interior spaces and the surrounding gardens.

The grounds contain a porcelain manufactory that has produced fine porcelain since Vienna's imperial era. This workshop continues to operate today, representing a tradition spanning more than 300 years.
