Grassalkovich Palace, Vienna

Grassalkovich Palace is a Rococo residence in Leopoldstadt featuring elaborate facades and symmetrically arranged windows. The building comprises several wings and contains rooms with stuccoed ceilings and ornate furnishings typical of 18th-century design.

Count Anton Grassalkovich, a close advisor to Empress Maria Theresa, had this palace built around 1760 as a summer retreat. It represented one of the most prestigious private construction projects in Vienna during the reign of Maria Theresa.

The palace takes its name from the Grassalkovich family, Hungarian nobility who held influence in the Habsburg realm. Today visitors can see the grand rooms and landscaped grounds that reveal how the aristocracy lived and entertained during this period.

The palace is located in Leopoldstadt and is easily accessible by public transportation, particularly via the Taborstraße stop. A short walk from Praterstern station will bring you to the site.
