Kristbergbahn

Kristbergbahn is an aerial lift in Silbertal that carries visitors across different elevations in the Montafon region. The system connects the base station to mountain slopes suited for hiking and exploring the surrounding landscape.

The aerial lift began operating in 1987, establishing transport access to the mountains. This development coincided with growing interest in mountain recreation throughout the Vorarlberg region.

The name reflects the area's mining heritage from centuries past. Today, visitors experience how mountain culture remains embedded in the landscape and how people use the valleys for both work and leisure activities.

The journey takes about 10 minutes and brings visitors to viewpoints and walking routes at various elevations. Parking is available at the base station and trails are clearly marked throughout the area.

The facility provides summer access to a nature trail with stations focused on mountain forest and conservation topics. This path shows visitors real examples of how forests are managed sustainably in the Alpine region.
