Weingut Emmerich Knoll

Weingut Emmerich Knoll is a winery located on the northern bank of the Danube River in the Wachau wine region, cultivating around 16 hectares of vineyards. The estate produces wines from Riesling and Grüner Veltliner grapes, classified into three quality levels called Steinfeder, Federspiel, and Smaragd.

The estate was founded in 1825 by the Knoll family and has maintained wine production since then. The family began bottling their wines in glass during the 1950s, marking a shift toward more modern production methods.

The winery displays the image of Saint Urban on its bottles, a choice made in 1962 that links local winemaking traditions with religious symbolism. This connection reflects how the estate sees itself as part of a broader cultural heritage.

The winery is located in Unterloiben along the Danube and is easily accessible when visiting the Wachau wine region. Visitors should plan ahead to arrange tastings or tours, as the estate is not typically set up for drop-in visits.
