Maximilian-Kaserne, Military headquarters in Wiener Neustadt, Austria.

Maximilian-Kaserne is a military installation in Wiener Neustadt featuring a neo-classical facade with ornate decorations, including a central double-headed eagle and weapon reliefs across its main structure. The grounds contain several buildings arranged in a complex layout designed to serve military administrative and operational functions.

Built between 1909 and 1911 for the Austro-Hungarian Army, the barracks served various military units throughout both World Wars. The site maintained its military purpose following Soviet occupation and has undergone modernization since then.

The facility takes its name from Emperor Maximilian I, who was born in Wiener Neustadt in 1459 and shaped Austrian artillery development. This naming reflects the city's deep connection to imperial military history and tradition.

The site features a central kitchen facility completed in 2010 that prepares and distributes meals daily to military installations across Lower Austria and Burgenland. Keep in mind this is an active military compound where access may be restricted for security reasons.

The compound now hosts Austria's Jagdkommando, the country's Special Forces unit, which ranks among Europe's most respected operational forces. This elite unit operates from the barracks while preserving the site's original architectural character.
