Eboardmuseum, Electronic keyboard museum in Klagenfurt, Austria
The Eboardmuseum holds about 2,000 electronic keyboard instruments across a large space, from classic Hammond organs to modern synthesizers and digital pianos. The collection covers all major development phases of this technology from the past century to today.
The museum was founded in 1987 by musician Gert Prix and houses the first Minimoog D ever made with serial number 1001. This documents a turning point in the development of electronic music instruments.
The collection includes instruments that shaped different music genres, from the Hammond B-3 organ to the Rhodes piano and Wurlitzer models. These machines stand at the center of the display because musicians made them famous in rock and jazz.
The museum is located near Lake Woerthersee and is open from April through October. If you plan to visit on Saturday, especially with a group, book ahead to ensure entry.
Visitors can actively play many of the instruments on display, which lets them directly experience the different sounds and mechanics across generations. This transforms the visit into more than just looking at objects.
