Schloss Meiselberg

Schloss Meiselberg is a stately home in Maria Saal with three wings arranged in a horseshoe shape, containing residential quarters and farm buildings surrounding an eastern courtyard. The layout combines different functions within a spacious design.

The castle began in the 16th century and underwent major changes in the 18th century under the Stampfer family. These alterations transformed it into a Baroque residence.

The main hall features a ceiling painting based on a Venetian artwork, created by a leading artist of the 1700s. This type of decoration shows how wealthy families filled their homes with significant artistic works.

The castle remains in private hands and visitors cannot enter the building or grounds. You can only view it from the outside.

The building displays Italian Mannerist style with colored walls, partial marble cladding, and an arcade gallery between two square towers. These Italian influences were uncommon in this region during the 1700s.
