Floridsdorfer Wasserpark, Public park in Floridsdorf, Austria
The Floridsdorf Water Park is a recreation area in Vienna with extensive water features that make up roughly one-third of the total space, including two connected ponds and an island in the middle. The park provides various sports facilities such as basketball and football courts, table tennis areas, and fitness equipment for strength training.
The park was completed in 1929 following the first Danube regulation between 1870 and 1875, which transformed an empty area into a designed landscape. The Danube regulation work created the conditions that made this park in Floridsdorf possible.
Japanese-style bridges and stone paths with decorative lanterns shape how the park looks and feels when you walk through it. These designed elements create visual interest throughout your visit to the space.
The park is easy to reach on foot and has flat paths that work well for most visitors. There is plenty of space to explore and spend time, especially if you want to enjoy the water areas and green spaces.
The water surfaces stay partly unfrozen in winter because of warm water from the nearby Danube River. This creates a habitat where water birds can survive through the cold months.
