Heilig-Geist-Kirche

The Heilig-Geist-Kirche is a Gothic church in Bruck an der Mur featuring a hexagonal floor plan with star-ribbed vault ceilings. The interior showcases three symmetrically placed portals and displays medieval craftsmanship in architectural details throughout.

The building was constructed in the 15th century as a church serving a plague hospital and served religious purposes for centuries. After 1783 it was converted into residential spaces and ceased to function as a place of worship.

The church was built by wealthy citizens of the town, whose names and coats of arms are still visible on the walls today. These inscriptions show who supported and shaped this house of worship.
