Schloss Neu-Pfannberg, Medieval castle in Frohnleiten, Austria.
Schloss Neu-Pfannberg is a two-story castle located in the cadastral community of Mauritzen near Frohnleiten. The grounds feature an English-style park with stone monuments and various decorative garden elements.
The castle originated in the 13th century as Grafenhof, an estate of the Counts of Pfannberg, and later served as a farm before becoming a noble residence in 1645. Fire damage in 1945 led to its reconstruction.
The chapel on the grounds dates from the late Gothic period and features a hexagonal layout with intricate stone vaults. Visitors can admire the detailed stonework in the windows and their decorative tracery.
The castle is situated at Mayr-Melnhof-Straße 32 and remains under the management of the Mayr-Melnhof family. The site is best accessed on foot and offers easy entry to the park grounds.
The castle park contains a small structure called Schlössl Ruhefeld from 1780 that rises among the historic garden elements. Nearby stands a baroque stone statue of Saint Johannes Nepomuk housed in an 18th-century wayside shrine.
