Schloss Seisenegg

Schloss Seisenegg stands on a narrow ridge, featuring a double castle structure with a prominent tower and a two-story chapel adorned with extensive frescoes.

The castle's foundations date to the 12th century, constructed as a fortification along strategic routes between Ybbsfeld and the Danube river, later acquired by Heinrich von Walsee in 1303.

During the 17th century, the castle became a center of Protestant culture through the poet Catharina Regina von Greiffenberg, who was born there in 1633.

The castle requires advance registration for visits and currently serves as a venue for weddings and events, with guided tours available upon prior arrangement.

Following a structural collapse in 1923, the medieval high castle remained partially abandoned until 1991, when Thomas Wassibauer initiated its restoration process.
