The castle stands on a ridge above a pond, featuring a late Gothic main wing and extensive baroque modifications throughout its structure.
First documented in 1297 when Eckart von Tann transferred the building to Raitenhaslach Cistercian monastery, with major renovations occurring in 1714.
The castle chapel, consecrated in 1452, received indulgence rights from Cardinal Nicholas of Cusa, indicating the building's religious importance.
The property encompasses 72,089 square meters, containing the main castle, a chapel, a mausoleum, and several agricultural buildings.
Baron Ernst von Gecmen-Waldeck acquired the castle for 3 million euros in 2012 after a failed auction attempt.
