Schloss Sighartstein

Schloss Sighartstein is a castle complex perched on a ridge above a pond near Neumarkt am Wallersee, featuring a late Gothic main wing with extensive baroque additions throughout. The grounds hold the main building, a chapel, a mausoleum, and several farm structures spread across the property.

The castle first appears in records in 1297 when Eckart von Tann handed it over to Raitenhaslach Cistercian monastery. A major transformation came in 1714 with baroque renovations that shaped the building as we see it today.

The chapel, consecrated in 1452, reveals how deeply this castle was connected to religious life in the region. You can sense this spiritual purpose still present in the building's character today.

The grounds are well laid out for walking and offer views across the surrounding landscape from the elevated position. Plan enough time to explore the different buildings and the chapel area comfortably.
