Schloss Totzenbach, Renaissance château in Kirchstetten, Austria

Schloss Totzenbach stands on an island surrounded by a moat fed by Totzenbach stream, featuring a massive gate tower with a high hipped roof.

The original owners, the Knights of Totzenbach, were first documented in 1147, and the castle remained untouched during the Turkish wars of 1529 and 1683.

The castle underwent transformation from a Gothic fortress to a Renaissance palace between 1588 and 1594 under the ownership of David von Trauttmansdorff.

While the castle remains in private ownership, selected rooms can be rented for private events, including weddings and cultural gatherings.

During restoration work in the 1970s, workers discovered the foundation walls of the medieval castle in the courtyard beneath the current structure.
