Schloss Baumgarten

Schloss Baumgarten is a medieval fortress in Neulengbach that spans multiple levels with several wings extending across the site. The main building features two stories and was rebuilt following earlier damage to the structure.

The castle was first recorded in 1074 when the Formbach family owned the property in the region. Major transformations took place in 1565 when the Trauttmansdorff family purchased and modified the structure.

The castle displays typical Austrian defensive architecture with its thick walls and multi-level design spread across the landscape. Visitors can see the medieval building traditions that shaped the structure and reveal its origins.

The property functions as a private residence and veterinary practice today, though certain areas can be rented for seminars and business meetings. Visitors should know that access is limited to specific sections available for these events.

The castle served not only as a residence but also as an important administrative center for the region across centuries. This dual purpose shaped its development and explains many of its architectural features.
