Kath. Pfarrkirche hl. Jakobus der Ältere, Faistenau

The Roman Catholic St. James the Elder Church stands with its elevated Gothic tower and eastern extensions added in 1720 to accommodate more worshippers.

The church construction began in 1324 when the Archbishop of Salzburg permitted the ministerials of Thurn to establish a subsidiary church in Thalgau parish.

Renaissance frescoes discovered in 1949 reveal biblical scenes on the walls, while the high altar from 1716 displays the presentation of rosary to the brotherhood.

The church maintains regular Catholic services and holds special ceremonies during religious festivals, with access available through the main entrance on the western side.

The organ, built by Karl Mauracher in 1825, represents the first musical instrument in the church after 500 years without any organ presence.
