Brasserie Martens

Brasserie Martens is a protected brewery in Bocholt that produces beers under its own brands as well as for major retailers. The facility operates with substantial brewing equipment and capacity to serve both domestic and international markets.

The brewery began in 1758 when Adriaan Geerkens expanded a village inn to include brewing operations. This founding launched a family enterprise that continued through nine generations of ownership and production.

The brewery produces beers named after Saint Christopher, connecting local religious traditions to Belgian brewing methods. This naming reflects how faith and craftsmanship have shaped the identity of the beer produced here over centuries.

Since 1962, a substantial portion of pilsner production has been made according to German Reinheitsgebot standards specifically for export. This specialization allowed the brewery to maintain access to demanding German markets for decades.
