Leuven Town Hall

Leuven Town Hall is a Gothic building with pointed windows, slender towers, and a steep roof. The structure displays symmetrical proportions and richly decorated details that reflect the craftsmanship of the builders.

The building was constructed between 1439 and 1469 and was the work of several respected master builders of the period. Its construction shows the economic power and ambition of the city during the Late Gothic era.

The front shows many statues that represent local figures and saints important to the region. These sculptures tell stories about the people and traditions that shaped the city.

The building is centrally located on the main square and is easy to reach on foot from most parts of the city. The nearest bus stop is nearby and the train station is roughly one kilometer away.

The building conceals ancient cellars from demolished medieval houses beneath the surface. A small side door allows visitors a glimpse into this hidden historical space.
