Kasteel van Leut, Castle and stately home in Leut, Maasmechelen, Belgium
The Kasteel van Leut features two circular corner towers and stands in landscaped grounds surrounded by dual moats near the Meuse River.
The castle originated from a 13th-century fortress built by the Van Tongeren family and underwent major renovations in Louis XIV style during the late 17th century.
The castle served multiple community functions throughout its history, operating as a hospital, maternity ward, and nursing facility for local residents.
The castle now hosts wedding ceremonies every second Saturday of the month, with four 20-minute time slots available for civil marriage celebrations.
French General Jean-Baptiste Jules Bernadotte selected this castle as his residence during the 1794 Siege of Maastricht.
