Tarancón

Tarancón is a municipality in Cuenca Province located at 800 meters elevation in Castilla-La Mancha. The town spreads across roughly 106 square kilometers and serves as an important administrative center in the region.

The settlement emerged between the late 12th and early 13th centuries within territory controlled by the Order of Santiago. Official city status came in 1921, marking a formal recognition of its importance.

The town celebrates in September with traditional dances and regional dishes from Castilla-La Mancha that keep local customs alive. These gatherings show how residents maintain their connection to the land and their heritage.
