Langreo

Langreo is a municipality in northern Spain that stretches across the Nalón Valley in Asturias and comprises eight administrative parishes. It occupies mountainous terrain and contains remains of mining and heavy industry that once shaped the region.

The municipality grew into a major industrial center in the late 19th century through coal mining and the establishment of the Duro Felguera Iron Company. This growth made it a heart of Asturias's heavy industrialization.

The Siderurgy Museum occupies the former Felguera Factory and displays equipment and methods that shaped regional industry over many generations. Walking through its halls shows how workers engaged with machinery and processes that defined this place.

Main locations like La Felguera and Sama connect through regular public transit to larger Asturian cities. Visitors should prepare for mountain terrain and allow time to move between districts.

The Mining Railway Museum in Samuño Valley preserves original tunnels and tracks that visitors can walk through. This site documents an overlooked aspect of industrial transport systems from earlier times.
