Palau-solità i Plegamans, municipality in Catalonia
Palau-solità i Plegamans is a small municipality in Vallès Occidental with two historic village cores along the Caldes river. The town combines medieval stone churches, farmhouses from the 13th to 15th centuries, and modern residential areas developed mainly during the 20th century.
The town grew from two medieval parishes with traces of habitation dating to prehistoric times. A railway station in the late 1800s spurred growth and brought textile factories, though the line closed in the late 1930s.
The two historic village cores of Palau-solità and Plegamans shape the town's sense of identity. Local festivals like the summer celebration and Saint Isidor festivities bring residents together and keep traditional customs alive in daily community life.
The flat terrain around the center is accessible by local buses and roads connecting to nearby towns. Walking and cycling are popular ways to explore, with gentle paths through the countryside and the Fum Hostel Park covering more than 35,000 square meters of green space.
The International Puppet Museum housed in a historic farmhouse shows puppets from many countries and reveals their role in storytelling and performance traditions. The repurposed building Can Falguera brings folk crafts and local heritage together.
