Jerez Circuit, Motorsport racing track in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain
Jerez Circuit is a motorsport racing track in Jerez de la Frontera in southern Spain, stretching over 4 kilometers with thirteen turns and a track width of 11 meters. The facility sits northeast of the city center within a region known for its sherry production and Andalusian culture.
The track opened in December 1985 and held several Formula One races between 1986 and 1991 before shifting its focus toward motorcycle racing. In later years it became a regular venue for motorcycle world championships and serves today as an important testing ground for racing teams.
The venue bears the name of Spanish motorcycle racer Ángel Nieto since 2016, who won thirteen world championship titles and is remembered as one of the most successful riders of his era. His legacy shapes the character of the track, which continues to host international motorcycle races and draws fans from across Europe.
Visitors will find several grandstands and elevated viewing points around the track that overlook different corner sections. On race days it helps to arrive early and bring sun protection, as shaded seating areas are limited.
Starting in 1992, a dedicated motocross course was built within the grounds, making this the first permanent combination of both racing formats on a single site worldwide. This pairing has since allowed events where asphalt and off-road tracks operate side by side.
