Centre de Lectura, Main library and cultural center in Reus, Spain.
The Centre de Lectura houses a vast collection of 160,000 volumes, including twenty incunabula and books dating from the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries.
Founded in 1859 by journalist Josep Güell i Mercader, the institution closed during Franco's regime from 1939 to 1948 before reopening under Enric Aguadé Parés.
The center maintains three educational departments focusing on languages, dance, and theater, while organizing conferences, seminars, and exhibitions throughout the year.
Located at Major Street 15 in Reus, the library provides access to books, digital resources, and multimedia collections established since 1993.
The National Rose Exhibition, initiated in 1936, takes place annually at the Centre de Lectura, gathering flower enthusiasts from across the region.
