Belorado

Belorado is an administrative division in Castile and Leon that consists of six towns situated near the Sierra de la Demanda mountains. The area spans across different elevations where varied landscapes meet and create different local conditions.

The area was settled in Celtiberian times, as shown by archaeological remains from that era. In the 12th century, it received royal permission to hold an annual market, which strengthened its economic position.

The town developed as a center for crafts and trade, particularly spinning and leather tanning. These traditions continue to shape how the community sees itself today.

An information center on the main square offers guidance for visitors and pilgrims on the Way of Saint James pilgrimage route. The area is easy to reach and well-marked for walkers following this major pilgrimage path.

The town is home to a radio museum displaying historical communication equipment and featuring a replica of first-class cabins from the Titanic ship. This unusual collection brings together two very different stories in one place.
