Castell d'Alaró, Rock castle in Tramuntana Mountains, Mallorca, Spain

The stone fortress stands at 822 meters elevation on Puig d'Alaró peak, featuring defensive walls, entrance gates, and watchtowers against the mountain backdrop.

First documented in 902 during Muslim rule, the castle served as a refuge during the Catalan conquest by King Jaume I in 1229.

The Gothic chapel within the castle walls represents the integration of military defense and religious practices in medieval Mallorcan architecture.

Visitors can reach the castle through a 4.2-kilometer hiking trail from Alaró town, with the journey taking approximately three hours and forty-five minutes.

The fortress walls incorporate natural rock formations of the mountain, creating a defensive structure that proved impenetrable throughout its military history.
