Gorbea, Mountain summit in Basque Country, Spain
Mount Gorbea rises to 1,482 meters above sea level, marking the highest point between the provinces of Biscay and Álava in northern Spain.
The mountain served as one of the five montes bocineros where horns announced meetings of the General Councils of the Lordship of Biscay.
A 17-meter metallic cross stands at the summit since 1910, following Pope Leo XIII's initiative to place crosses on mountains for the new century.
Multiple hiking paths lead to the summit from different starting points, including Pagomakurre, which takes approximately one hour and forty-five minutes to reach the top.
The mountain sits within Gorbeia Natural Park, established in 1994, encompassing 200 square kilometers of protected landscape between Biscay and Álava.
