Tomelloso is a municipality in Ciudad Real province, Castile-La Mancha, sitting on flat land at 668 meters (2,191 feet) elevation. Vineyards and farmland stretch across the horizon, shaping the visual character of this agricultural center.
The settlement began in 1494 as Los Tomillosos, named after the thyme fields that grew here. In 1927, it received city status following the growth of agriculture in the area.
