Ribadavia

The town stretches along the right bank of the Miño River and the final course of the Avia River in southwestern Ourense province.

The Jewish population controlled the wine trade during medieval times, exporting Ribeiro wine to Italy, Germany, England, and the Low Countries.

The Jewish Quarter contains multiple architectural elements from different periods, including the synagogue and traditional buildings around Plaza de Magdalena.

Ribadavia connects to major transportation routes through the N-120 road and A-52 Rias Baixas highway, 25 kilometers from Ourense and 65 from Vigo.

The castle of Sarmiento, dating from the fifteenth century, maintains its interior sections, defensive towers, and original stone wall structures.
