Sant Andreu de Palomar, Historical district in northern Barcelona, Spain

Sant Andreu de Palomar spans 174 hectares along Rovira i Virgili street, bordered by Meridiana Avenue and railroad tracks in northern Barcelona.

The area remained an independent municipality with agricultural foundations until 1897, when it was officially annexed to become part of Barcelona.

The Fabra i Coats cultural center, housed in a former textile factory, contains a public library spanning 6,000 square meters across four floors.

The district connects to central Barcelona through multiple transport options and features the large Westfield La Maquinista shopping center.

Local residents demonstrated strong community identity in 2015 when 83 percent of voters supported independence from Barcelona administration.
