Església de Sant Andreu de Palomar, Neo-Gothic church in Sant Andreu district, Barcelona, Spain.
The Església de Sant Andreu de Palomar is a neo-Gothic church featuring a Latin cross layout with three naves and a central dome crowned by a lantern. The facade displays classical columns combined with ornamental arches across its front elevation.
The original building dates to the 10th century as a Romanesque church but underwent major reconstruction beginning in 1881 under architect Pere Falqués. This transformation gave it its current neo-Gothic character and internal organization.
The interior walls display murals depicting scenes from Saint Andrew's life, painted during the mid-20th century and creating a spiritual visual narrative throughout the space.
The church is easily accessible by metro line L1 at Sant Andreu station and by several bus routes serving the neighborhood. Walking around the area is comfortable, and parking is available on surrounding streets.
The dome collapsed in 1882 during construction, prompting a redesign featuring a lantern-topped dome by architect Josep Domènech i Estapà. This solution remains visible and shapes the building's silhouette today.
