Castle of Íscar, Medieval fortification in Íscar, Spain

The castle stands on a limestone hill, featuring a pentagonal keep with robust towers and a defensive wall system with artillery windows.

The first documented mention of the castle appears in Muslim chronicles from 939 AD, before its reconquest by Christian forces in 1086.

The castle displays the coat of arms of Pedro de Zúñiga y Avellaneda and Catalina de Velasco y Mendoza on one of its turrets.

The exterior grounds remain accessible on weekends from 12:30 PM to 10:00 PM, with guided tours of the main tower available through advance reservations.

The castle incorporates a defensive spur at the back of the main tower, flanked by two turrets, creating a pentagonal ground floor structure.
