Torre dels Escipions

The three-story stone tower features a square base measuring 4.40 by 4.70 meters and displays carved reliefs on its middle section.

The structure dates from the first century AD and stands along the ancient Via Augusta, the primary Roman road connecting the Pyrenees to Cadiz.

Two relief figures on the second level depict the Phrygian god Attis, who represents death and resurrection in Roman religious practices.

The monument stands 6 kilometers from Tarragona center, accessible via the N-340 road, with visitors welcome to explore the site without entry fees.

The name stems from a centuries-long misidentification of the Attis figures as the Scipio brothers, Roman generals who died during the Second Punic War.
