Convent de Sant Domingo

Convent de Sant Domingo is a church building in Inca with a single nave divided into five sections and side chapels topped by a barrel-vaulted ceiling of natural stone. The building now houses a municipal library, exhibition hall, and conference room alongside other public services.

Dominican friars founded the convent in 1604, and the church was constructed between 1664 and 1689. This building period marked a significant phase of religious growth across Mallorca.

The interior displays religious artworks that visitors can still see today, including altarpieces from the 16th and 17th centuries dedicated to Saint Vincent Ferrer and the Souls. These pieces reflect the devotion that shaped the space over centuries.

The cloister is a quadrangular space built in 1730 that features seven basket-handle arches on each side supported by stone columns with Ionic capitals. This architectural detail offers an example of refined craftsmanship that catches the eye upon closer inspection.
