Co-cathedral of Santa María de la Fuente la Mayor

The Co-cathedral of Santa María de la Fuente la Mayor is a church with three naves connected by semicircular arches and Renaissance columns at its main entrance. A brick tower crowns the structure, combining Islamic and Christian design elements throughout.

Construction began around 1300 on the site of a former mosque and continued through the 16th century. The building received its final form through major renovations in the 1600s.

The building combines Islamic architectural elements with Christian design, reflecting the cultural diversity of medieval Spain through its Mudéjar construction style.

The co-cathedral sits in central Guadalajara at Plaza de Santa María and welcomes visitors during regular hours. Its downtown position makes it easily reachable on foot from other historical landmarks.

Inside you can see an alabaster pulpit with fine craftsmanship and several historic tombs. The dome above the transept shows construction techniques from the 1600s.
