The Santa María Co-cathedral features three naves with semicircular arches, Renaissance columns at the main entrance, and a masonry tower topped with brick.
Built around 1300 on the site of a former mosque, the construction of this religious edifice continued through the 16th century with final renovations in 1600s.
The building combines Islamic architectural elements with Christian design, reflecting the cultural diversity of medieval Spain through its Mudéjar construction style.
Located at Plaza de Santa María in central Guadalajara, the co-cathedral maintains regular visiting hours and serves the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sigüenza-Guadalajara.
The interior contains an alabaster pulpit and historic tombs, while the dome above the transept demonstrates 17th-century architectural techniques.
