Mejorada del Campo

The settlement started in 1247 as a community under the bishops of Segovia, who held administrative control over the land. In 1574, royal authority took over the governance, marking a significant shift in the area's political structure.

A former monk named Justo Gallego Martínez began building a cathedral-like structure starting in 1961 and worked on it independently for decades. This remarkable private project stands as a testament to personal determination and stands out as an unusual landmark in the community.
