O Porriño

O Porriño is a municipality in Pontevedra Province that forms part of the Vigo metropolitan area, with eight parishes spread across its terrain. The town spreads through a valley landscape with several settlement centers linked by roads and local pathways.

The region contains evidence of Palaeolithic settlements at Gándaras de Budiño, pointing to very early human presence in the area. Later development connected this place to the Way of Santiago pilgrimage route, which integrated it into broader trading networks.

The San Sebastián square at the town center houses a chapel built by the community, reflecting the original settlement core and local building traditions. Residents continue to gather at this site, which demonstrates the area's strong connection to craftsmanship.
