Moaña is a coastal municipality on the northern shore of the Ría de Vigo with elevations reaching 133 meters (436 feet). The town has several beaches distributed along its coastline and neighboring settlements nearby.
This place grew from a medieval settlement under control of the bishops of Santiago de Compostela. It became a separate municipality in 1836 when administrative divisions in Galicia were reorganized.
