Santuari de Nostra Senyora de Gràcia

The Santuari de Nostra Senyora de Gràcia is a pilgrimage church nestled beneath the Penya Falconera cliff on Puig de Randa mountain. The building features a single nave with side chapels and vaulted ceilings, while an attached 18th-century structure with rounded arches once housed hermits.

Two Franciscan friars transformed a natural cave called s'Aresta into a chapel during the mid-15th century, establishing this religious site. The location subsequently became an important destination for pilgrims traveling from throughout the region.

The sanctuary takes its name from the veneration of Mary's grace, a devotion that drew pilgrims from across the region to this mountain shrine. The colorful wooden carvings and painted tiles inside reflect the religious commitment that shaped daily life for local communities.

The sanctuary sits at 370 meters elevation and is reached by a path that climbs through the landscape. A visit is best planned with sturdy footwear, as the route to the shrine involves uneven terrain.

The first chapel on the left contains a statue of Saint Anne, where young women from Llucmajor once placed pins as a custom meant to help them find marriage partners. This practice reveals how personal hopes were intertwined with spiritual devotion at this shrine.
