Sant Pere el Gros

The circular stone church features a semicircular apse, six interior niches, and a dome ceiling constructed with precise stone masonry techniques.

The church, documented since 1072, became a Benedictine priory in 1081 when William of Cervera and his wife Arsendis donated it to Santa Maria de Ripoll monastery.

The temple represents the religious architecture during the Christian repopulation of Segarra territory in the mid-11th century, marking the transition from Muslim to Christian control.

The church stands southwest of Cervera at 464 meters elevation, near the confluence of Torrent Salat and Ondara River, accessible through a main communication route.

Archaeological excavations around the church revealed foundations of an ancient monastery and metal age artifacts beneath the religious complex.
